Rockefeller, Sr., and heir to the Rockefeller fortune, who built Rockefeller Center in New York City and was instrumental in the decision to locate the United Nations in that city. John D. Rockefeller, Jr. was an American businessman and major philanthropist. He was the fifth and the last child of the famous businessman and Standard Oil industrialist, John D. Rockefeller. He was the father of the famous five Rockefeller brothers. John D. Rockefeller was born in Richford, New York, then part of the Burned-over district—a New York state area being the site of an evangelical revival known as the Second Great Awakening; it drew masses to various Protestant churches—especially Baptist ones—urging believers to follow such ideals as hard work, prayer and good deeds to John D. Rockefeller, Jr. was indeed a man of much integrity, dignity, and charitable efforts, which are still evident today, even decades after his passing.
